An Tairseach is the Irish word for threshold and it suggests a new beginning, an alternative and more sustainable way of working with the land as well as a renewed relationship with the whole community of life, human and non-human.
Located in Wicklow town, it is the Dominican convent’s ecology and retreat centre that is a centre for ecology and spirituality, an fully working organic farm and a conservation area suitable for field studies. The Ecology Centre is set in the context of a fully functioning organic farm with tree plantations, wild flower meadows, pond and stream walk. The farm produces organic fruits, vegetables, and lamb for sale.
Carrot bunches of both heirloom and orange variety, sprouting purple broccoli, green kale and black, farm leeks, potatoes and many more seasonal Irish vegetables all grown on the farm and sold fresh picked at Supernatural, every Saturday. French their farm manager is very helpful and only too delighted to give pass on recipes and interesting uses and benefits of the many delicious and healthy organic foods they sell.
